After the pain.....

It is true that we understand so much more when we are older and while you can never go back and correct a wrong decision you can opt to take from it the good things and use the thorns and weeds and poison to learn lessons that will help you avoid making the same mistake again.  I have known true pain, most people have and those who haven't have not lived.  This is not a comparison of pain or depths of pain or whose pain is more worthy of pity, it is a simple dedication to the pain we feel and how artists can take their pain and morph it into something beautiful and tragic all at once.  For me, it is often cathartic because it is so much a part of me and so tied to everything I do that it would drive me mad not to put it out there - whether anybody opted to read it or not.

What is my pain?  Does it matter?  Pain is pain and I have nearly come out the other side of it this time, hoping for a lull before the next wave hits.  No, not physical pain but the burning, emotional kind that leaves you raw in all the worst places.  The kind that keeps you up writing in the wee hours of the morning because it is the only way you will possibly land a few meager hours of sleep.  Melodramatic?  Yes, I suppose it is, but true nonetheless.

I guess what I am saying is that after the pain, the best things happen, the best paintings and dance recitals and songs and books come out of some of the worst things we can face in life.  Do not hide your pain, do not shove it aside, work through it and come out the other side with something beautiful in its place.

Live through the pain, work through it and come out the other side.  After the pain.

Fluff or fetish?

What qualifies as a solid fetish story?  I have been asking the question for a long time, researched it, read several, and I still am unclear.  Part of what the Wallflower Diaries is meant to do is explore various fetishes as my two coeds come into their own - each in her own way.  The point, if you haven't guessed it by now, is that while Simone appears to be an active, vivacious, and very popular woman, she lacks sexual experience to the degree that she would be considered a wallflower in that capacity.  The Diaries will have to show her perspective as she delves into various situations that awaken a part of her she didn't know existed.  Now, is she going to know everything there is to know about sex and things like bondage?  Doubtful.  For her, things will appear more like the fluff of a sexual situation and evolve into something deeper.  On the flip side, Josephine overtly appears the quintescential wallflower but we quickly find that she is knowledgable about all of the things Simone knows nothing about.  Her entries should therefore be far more involved with a greater understanding of the purpose behind the actions which ultimately drives her toward a different lifestyle altogether.  Beyond this insight into the series, I found that it raises a broader question - do you prefer fluff or fetish?  Are you annoyed by either one?  Do you automatically assume that fluff means the writer knows nothing of the lifestyle s/he is writing about?  Do you suppose the true fetish writer is so hardcore into the fetish on a personal level that you are turned off by the story?  It's quite the conundrum, is it not?

Just a little food for thought as I settle down to work the next installment of the Wallflower Diaries - Winter's Chill.

The Wallflower Diaries - a series of erotic short stories

My first foray into the publishing world will be ready this week.  My debut erotic short story, The Wallflower: The Beginning is just about ready and will be available only on Amazon Kindle at this time.

The story of two freshmen women from very different backgrounds are matched as roommates, The Wallflower is told from varying points of view (from season to season) as the young women come to understand how much they have in common and that they can have a lot to learn about life, love, and sex.

In the coming days I will post excerpts from the first installment of The Wallflower - check back soon!
